The Randolph County Community Arts Center is right across the street from my house. They have lots of opportunities for singing, dancing, and art classes. With my roommates Matt and Brittany, I took a harmony gospel and folk singing class.
It was six weeks long, and the ten or so participants divided up into two, three and sometimes four part harmony. We learned the harmonies by ear, and many of the songs I knew from the "O, Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack. It was a great to have to sing, but not have to sing by myself. I learned a lot, although I'm not sure I can hold onto a harmony by myself yet.
Here is a recording of some of the songs we sang in class. "Do Lord" and "Angel Band" are particularly good.
Enjoy!
